Adopted family celebrating Christmas together around the Christmas tree surrounded by presents | MK Adoption Services
I remember sitting on my couch one Christmas night, thinking, "Will this ever happen? Will we ever become parents?" My daughter was born that same Christmas Day! Talk about a Christmas miracle. New Year, New, New Hope!

As the year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to speak to your heart, especially if you’re still waiting to bring your child home.

The end of the year can stir up a whirlwind of emotions:  hope, sadness, anticipation, and even frustration. I know this because I’ve been where you are, yearning for a phone call, praying for the pieces to fall into place, and feeling the ache of waiting during a season that celebrates family and togetherness.

Adoption is a journey unlike any other, filled with peaks of joy and valleys of pain. My own story includes six adoption disruptions—six moments where the hope of welcoming a child was dashed. I remember the sleepless nights, the tears, and the questioning: Will this ever happen to me?

But I also remember the beauty of perseverance. Despite the heartache, my husband and I didn’t give up. Today, I am a proud mom to two incredible children through adoption, and those hard-won blessings remind me that every step, every setback, and every delay was worth it.

If you’re reading this and feeling weary, please know this:

Your story isn’t over. The waiting, though difficult, is preparing you for something beautiful.

A New Year, A New Chapter

The start of a new year is the perfect time to reset and refocus. It’s a moment to breathe, realign with your goals, and remind yourself of why you began this journey.

This is your chance to:

  • Reflect on the past year: Acknowledge the strength it’s taken to endure the wait.

  • Reclaim your hope: Your wait is not in vain.

  • Renew your efforts: Consider taking a fresh approach if the process feels stagnant. Evaluate your professional team, support team, strategy, and mindset.

You’re Not Alone

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from my journey and my work as an adoption professional is that no one has to walk this path alone. I’m here to help families navigate this process with confidence and compassion. Whether you’re struggling with the wait, facing setbacks, or wondering where to start, I understand your experience firsthand.

Helping families grow is my passion, and nothing brings me greater joy than guiding waiting families toward their  “yes.”

A Message of Hope

As you stand on the threshold of a new year, I encourage you to hold tightly to hope. Adoption is a journey of faith, resilience, and love. Though it may feel like the wait will never end, remember that this season is only part of your story.

The best chapters are still ahead, and when you finally hold your child in your arms, you’ll understand that every moment of waiting led to that beautiful, life-changing moment.

Here’s to hope, renewal, and the promise of what’s to come in 2025.

With love and encouragement & Happy New Year,

Khandy
